Dear Parents/Guardians, Students,
I am truly honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Auburndale Elementary School. My name is Ana M. Gutierrez and on behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome you to the 2012-2013 school year. The success that Auburndale Elementary School experienced during the 2010-2011 school year can only be attributed to the hard work, dedication and concentrated efforts of all parties involved. Auburndale Elementary School progressed from a “B” to “A” grade designation from the Florida Department of Education. In a year where school grade criteria changed and rigor was increased, earning an “A” grade is an incredible success that must be commended.
It is evident that Auburndale Elementary School is a school where strong connections are made between home and school and where all staff members are committed to developing the whole child. I value both of these characteristics and I am excited to help continue moving Auburndale along the path of excellence.
Professionally, I have served in Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 16 years. I have a diverse background in teaching, working as a curriculum support specialist for advanced academic programs, and as an assistant principal for at the elementary, middle and senior high school level. Most recently I worked with the district as an instructional supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction.
It is very important to me to build solid relationships with students, families and teachers. In addition to building strong relationships with everyone, it will be particularly important to me to make sure that your child and you feel safe at school. Communication is paramount in a school. For this reason, I will always encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or me with questions.
I would like to once again welcome you to an exciting school year that promises to be filled with great educational successes.
Ana M. Gutierrez
